Raindance, june 2006, in the Santa Cruz Mountains (CA)
This was an unforgettable weekend in the redwoods, full of music, dance, great vibes
and nice people.
Most of the music was out of this world - especially Tipper, DJ Lorin, and
(I think) Goldilox (or maybe it was Kitty D or Danny Moon Tribe that I really liked).
I've been unenthused with electronic for a few years now but this has reinvigorated my
interest in it... I'll definitely be scoping out these DJ's in the near future.
These tracks were the plum. (For those not aware, this is my term to replace
"the bomb". Please help me proliferate it by using it throughout your day.)
Unfortunately, I didn't carry my camera around for much of the event.
The "lodge" (or cabin), the pool party, and many of the friends we made
all escaped my camera - what a shame! (ok, well, the pool party
probably shouldn't be caught on film.) But I
did grab pictures of a few things, so here they are. Enjoy!
Movies... (turn up the volume!)
Pictures...
Gamelan time! We started with belaganjur (a marching song) and then played sitting songs for the rest of the set.
Mellow time before the real party began...
I took a few shots of the trees on the way out, and these two turned out to be interesting...
They also had this really cool cauldron of flaming liquid surrounded by a big wire cylinder fence, and when you spun it, it created a huge swirling vortex of flame:
